Welcome to the Presidents December’s Report.
The museum was recently featured on a YouTube channel. The episode was promoted as “Exploring Australia’s most Haunted Museum”. Isaac Butterfield a must watch
We were given 3 new large display boards, ideal for the display of photos, they are now in place, replacing some of the plywood display boards.
Dawn’s Day at the Broadwater Parklands last month was very successful and attended by at least 26 organizations which Dawn has given her support to.
Our Christmas party was enjoyed by a large group of members and visitors. Vic cooked the sausages which were supplied by John & Leith Burns. My thanks go to the volunteers and members who assisted with the catering on the day.
The new tree description signs look very professional. Visitors can now read about the trees and see photos of the flowers and fruit. We still need sponsors for many other trees if you are interested. We also renewed seven of the original museum signs.
Last month Lynette and Peter Reilly visited us. They were part of the volunteer team from the Friends of Gold Coast Regional Botanic Garden who planted many of the trees in the littoral rain forest and set up the irrigation system. They were very pleased at the progress of the rain forest and how the museum staff are caring for it.
Many trees in the rain forest have been in flower which has made identification easier.
Did you know that “Chevron Island” was previously named “Goat Island”, The name “Chevron” is derived from the French word “Chevre” which means goat and “Chevon” means goat meat.
Someone asked me at the Christmas party “What do you have planned for next year”
I said we will see what develops and trust me it will.
The last 12 months have flown at the museum, this is number 12 Presidents Report,
